Human rights defenders such as journalists, associations, trade unions or whistleblowers contribute to the public debate on multinationals and help their victims gain access to justice. Unfortunately, these actors face many obstacles and attacks, particularly from the private sector. In response to these threats to freedom of expression, information and association, Sherpa is working to protect civic space.
From trade secrecy, national defence secrecy, media control to censorship: Sherpa is fighting against the organised opacity of multinationals, which hinders access to information, evidence and therefore access to justice.
Surveillance, artificial intelligence: Sherpa is working to stop tech multinationals that are posing new threats to human rights, particularly freedom of press, expression and information.
Lawsuits against whistleblowers, attacks on journalists: Sherpa strives to support human rights defenders who are victims of reprisals by multinationals and to strengthen their legal protection.
Anti-corruption accreditation, demonstrations and civil disobedience: Sherpa is working to strengthen the civil society players’ right of association and demonstration against multinationals.
